Conflict Deterrence Plan released for Umatilla River Pack 

ODFW had many discussions with livestock producers in the Umatilla River Pack area about the appropriate non-lethal measures to minimize conflict with wolves. These discussions led to development of this plan and its provisions are being implemented by many producers already.

Under new wolf management rules, ODFW and livestock producers are required to develop and publicly disclose Conflict Deterrence  Plans in Areas of Depredating Wolves. The Conflict Deterrence Plan could be updated from time to time based on changing conditions, pack behavior, knowledge about wolf management and comments by landowners, livestock producers and other relevant interests.  To be notified of changes to the Conflict Deterrence Plan, subscribe to receive changes to the Wolf-Livestock section.

It just amazes me how the cattlemen keep trying to appease the green wolf lovers by doing some sort of wolf deterrents.  So far nothing has worked so why keep trying.  The wolf lovers keep harping about guard dogs which have been used and got eaten by the wolves.   Flaggery has been tried and aftert the wolves figure it out they go right through.    Herders are great in the daytime when wolves do not kill but sleep.  They  hunt at night when the herders can't see.  Moveable fencing is totally idiotic in the wooded, rockey, steep remote areas that cattle graze in. 
  The deterents that work are poisons, traps, snares and shoot.  So the only deterents that work have  somehow gotten outlawed.  Just release one of these illegal deterents and the problem is solved.   
  So why do the cattlemen keep trying to appease the wolf lovers?   This whole idea of a deterent is just  another stall method to keep the wolf population exploding.  Once they  have saturated the land the wolf lovers will fade away snickering under their breath.   The cattlemen do every thing they can to work with these folks and in the end they  get their throat cu/t

ODFG, WDFW etc. are following the wolf protocol set by the USFWS, the only reason WY had it easier is they refuse to play the game. Wyoming made the USFWS eat their own chit, which of course they didn't like. The USFWS did not like the $$$ of chasing wolves of their own, they handled wolf predation the only way that works, kill every wolf involved, packs with pups included.

As most everyone knows now, it isn't about saving wolves. It is about stopping hunting, running ranchers out of business, and making country living less desirable.

there must be a lot of sick and dying cattle down there because that's what I was told they eat....
