Posts like what? ???

Nobody is disparaging anyone.  Is pointing out that cottontails are a game animal and not in season a "dbag comment"?  If you think so then I hope you never have to meet a Game Warden.

How can you say that good things happen rarely on this site?  For those who are genuine and supportive and willing to give and receive, there are dozens if not hundreds of positive contributors.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

I love to see pics of people getting animals especially kids. Nothing better than a kid getting something. With that said i like to see it in season though. Thats all.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

IMHO, the best lessons in hunting start with an emphasis first on safe gun handling, and next on reading and understanding the regulations.  His muzzle is pointed in a safe direction and the action is open with his finger off the trigger - well done. This appears to have been a happy experience for the young lad and most likely, the pictures were taken during a legal hunting season.  :dunno:  If not, it might be prudent and helpful for dad to sit down with his son and let him know that they may have screwed up and "here's how you keep from doing that again and avoid trouble with the law". A good all 'round hunting education includes discussions and practice of safety, ethics, and adhering to regulations.

I like the picture and the joy on this kid's face. I'd hate to see that turn into disappointment or worse if this were to happen out of season and a game enforcement officer were involved. IRem, good for you for bringing your son up in hunting. We need all the new blood we can get.

You only learn by messing up, we where all kids at one time... and I'm sure a lot of you dad types haven't done the father thing ever before. Sure it's a game animal but I doubt the kid is terrorizing the rabbit population and being a menace to conservation by tatering a rabbit or two before the season starts. For all you know he shot the rabbits that were terrorizing his fathers garden.

like any game warden will care about a rabbit when they have more important things to do.
