Ideal rocky mtn elk weather?
« on: September 06, 2013, 11:35:27 AM »
What is your "ideal" rocky mtn elk hunting weather for late September? My dad and I leave for Oregon a week from today and I have been watching the weather reports daily. So far it appears the storms hit there these past few days then it is supposed to warm up all week and then cool off again when we get there. They are calling for clouds and drizzle the first few days which sounds great to me. Thoughts?

I love it when you get a cold snap, cold and clear is my favorite. When the frost melts it makes movement a little quieter. I hate the fog, which happens alot that time of year in the high country. I think the activity picks up with unstable air pressure. I have a feeling your hunt will be a good one (I'm hoping).
