finished hunting on fort lewis
« on: September 06, 2013, 07:14:19 PM »
So I was completely set to hunt fort Lewis.training area 3.I parked outside of Fort Lewis across the street walk across street and walk in the Fort Lewis like I was told to by  range control and after walking about 4 miles I get a phone call from the Fort Lewis police department the MP's want to talk to me so I start heading back lucky for me someone was driving on that road already and give me a ride back to the gate where I met up with 6 MP cars.kind of ridiculous so they tell me did they got a phone call that somebody have snuck into Fort Lewis with a ar 15 assault rifle which by the way I had a shotgun I don't understand how you feel confused an ar-15 assault rifle with a shotgun.so they check out my info check my license my tag my hunters registration for on Fort Lewis check to see if I checked in and everything came back good the only issue is I never saw a damn thing in the woods not one bear no bear signs no clear-cut no berries.nothing. when am I going to catch a break and actually find a bear that I can shoot at least to be able to see one that I am able to shoot even if I can't get to it I am finding nothing this is absolutely ridiculous

Was area 3 the only area open today? I have seen some bear around Johnson Marsh, areas 8,9,10, 11, 17, 18, 21, heck all over the fort. Of course I have been running around the fort since 1964.

Just doing their jobs.   I have hunted many times out there and only been stopped once. Don't let it get you down.  Just makebsure you stay completely legal. They have around 3500 cameras throughout the training areas with pics all going to a computer at the mp station
