Wow! A two-fer!  Good on the hunters for making the call, and good on the WDFW for making the right choice.

Good for them and the warden for using his discretion... Unfortunately i have heard of many other "discretion issues" that were in no way lenient.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Now what would happen if that was a bull and a cow, or 2 bulls, or 2 bucks etc. ?

That's a pretty cool story. I'm glad to hear that it ended well for the hunters and that reaffirms my thoughts that honesty is the best policy.

Though not related, this reminds me of another story...Years ago, while hunting in Oregon with a doe tag, my cousin shot a doe that was across a small valley.  He watched the doe drop in her tracks after the rifle shot.  He walked down the valley and started up the other side.  As he looks up, he sees the doe standing there, looking down at him, so he shoots her again!  When he reaches the top he finds two dead does!  Incredibly, an Oregon game warden was watching the entire thing, from about 100 yards behind where my cousin took the first shot.  As the game warden approached my cousin, my cousin was honest about what happened.  The game warden agreed that he'd witnessed the entire thing and felt it was an honest mistake.  The warden sold my cousin a second doe tag, on the spot, allowing my cousin to take both does home.  The warden even helped gut and haul the second doe back to my cousin's truck.

Admitedly I haven't been paying much attention to changes in the regs b/c I won't be hunting this year, but I thought luminocks were illegal

Good to know, they must have taken the heat seeking missile feature out of them that gave us an unfair advantage. Kinda makes me want to bow hunt again if not just for the excuse to buy new gear.
