6x7 down!
« on: September 08, 2013, 08:16:20 AM »
I stuck this guy yesterday right at noon. I was in a small swampy meadow that i decided to go into and sit for a while. I got in the meadow at about 11 and sat down on a log to eat some lunch. Then i decided to lay back on the log and take a nap. About 30 min into my nap i get woke up tothe sounds of this bull walking into the meadow. So i got up nocked an arrow and had to move about 15 feet and the bull walked into a opening and stopped. I put my arrow right in the boiler room at 30 yards. He ran about 30 yards and dropped. Then the work started. It was 3 miles back to the truck and we had to pack him through a swamp to get him out. Pretty good for my first archery elk.

Yeah i did get help for the pack out. The first thing i did after making sure he was down was go get cell service and start making calls and my buddy terry and his wife picked up my wife and they came up to help. Would have been a miserable pack by myself. Even with the help it took 7.5 hrs to get h quarted and out to the truck.
