Blacktail rookie

New guy here... I grew up hunting for mulies on the east side with modern firearm... Now I live on the wet side and picked up a bow. I'd love some tips on decent blacktail spots in Whatcom or Skagit.

Pick up some maps of your area and find some roads to start driving....I like to hunt clear cuts with thick reprod on 1-2 sides with big timber on the other with no roads circling around it.....a place they can feel secure....then you need to scout it....blacktail are not like the east side deer at all....they can't be "patterned" they will frequent and area but will come and go when they want to....no rhyme or reason...they are a hard deer to figure out....be patient while hunting them....glass glass glass....I know there's guys that like to still hunt the timber but I haven't have very great luck with it....also don't go in for lunch....I've killed every big buck I've had during lunch time....11-1.....its like they have you patterned and come out mid day when you leave for lunch  :chuckle:
