Any serious elk hunters in the NE
« on: September 09, 2013, 09:49:35 AM »
My partner has to work and wont be up again this season.  If there is any drop dead serious elk hunter not afraid to get into the nasty stuff looking for someone to hunt with then let me know.  Im from the area so not looking for sweet spot stealing just hate hunting elk alone.  My resume.. grew up north of spokanistan.. joined the army.. got out of the army almost 26 and in good shape.

I'm taking a break from hunting this past week.  My partners bailed and it's been rough hunting alone this year.  I've been into more bulls on the west side than I can shake a stick at but have had issues getting a shot.

Ive been hunting like mad and have yet to even find elk.  Covered 20 miles last weekend and nothing.  Not even a fresh turd.  I just dont really know any areas north of spokane that hold elk, was thinking of Mica peak, but doesnt seem like a good bet since I can only hike so far in a day and cant camp there.

I don't have an elk tag (cause to be honest I really don't know how to hunt elk). But I would love to tromp around with someone and learn.

When are you planning on going again?

Ive been up 15 or so miles north of long lake, private land, there was a couple in there last year, but not now.  Im going all out next weekend, but where to do it is the issue. I would be happy just seeing elk, Im hoping I wont spend the rest of the winter sipping tag soup.

I'd love to tag along but only have this coming Sunday to hunt.  I spent most of last week up north with nothing to show for it but sore muscles and lots of wet clothing...

I think this heat is really playing havoc on them, turning them more nocturnal.  Late season oughta be good...I hope!
