Anyone in the Nile tagging out
« on: September 10, 2013, 12:55:58 PM »
Been busting our butts hiking. Seeing some rubs and fresh tracks. I hope others are having better luck. I see what everyone says about the road hunters. Trying to figure out this warm weather. Just hoping for one nice cow to cross our path.

Hunted 5 days in there. Never been before but wanted to try a new unit. Lots and lots of hunters. If I had a bull tag I could have tagged out several times. Had a cow at 100 yards but she would not come down to us with the bull in between us. So no dice on our end.

Where were you hunting at? We are off of 1600 below 1605. Only here two more days. Called in a few but no luck. Trying to stay away from the majority of hunters. Wondering if we would have different luck up higher. We normally hunt 49 degree unit and decided to get over here since this is where we try to draw. Lots of road hunters. It's funny seeing trucks drive by with people in the back with their bows when we get back to camp for lunch.

Top half of the unit. We hunted a lot of mid elevation and hunted higher the last day and got into them.

Cool country. Why I did not spend much time by the main road other then at night. There was a lot of traffic! I will also say I saw more hunters back in 2+ miles then I have seen in any of the other units I hunt. I am not use to running into hunters like I did. Some guys are out getting after it :IBCOOL:

They can have the road :chuckle: I think the elk we got into were about 6 miles back in it. If they are that stupid to go stand on the road better cull out the dumb ones :chuckle:

I remember one of the first times I hunted rimrock. We were coming out mid day and my buddy says there is a cow standing over there. I could not believe it I was kinda in shock. she was like 150 yards across a small draw. I stopped the truck just as another rig came around the corner. They saw what I was looking at and jumped out bows in hands and started running down the hill after her. They acted like they had not had meat in a month :chuckle: She bolted as soon as they bailed but it was funny to watch and we just drove off laughing.
