Bitter but o so sweet in the end
« on: September 11, 2013, 07:58:22 AM »
So yesterday was full of emotion.  Spent the morning trying to sneak through a moonscape clearing after a bull that would not talk or come to a call.  I got close enough to see his tops over the hill in the clearing still 80+ yds out.  got into his space and tried calling but nothing he ended up sneaking into timber and disappearing.  This was the second time this season I have had a close call with this bull just wish he would answer to a call. so morning was little bitter but hey still hunting.

Then get txt from pregnant momma saying she in pain, so jump in truck and meet at hospital three hours later my son was born.  such a great day and thankful married someone who not only is fine with me hunting even a day after her due date but was just upset she couldn't be out there.

That is awesome - congrats on your new hunting partner :)  Momma sounds like a wonderful woman - probably will be pushing you back out the door to snag that bull!!

Wow, man.  Hang onto that one.

Congrats on the new addition!

BTW, if you have another, you might want to think about a lot of cold showers 9 months before archery season  :chuckle:

Great day, I'd say.  Congrats on son and the stalk.  The son tops the list.

Well got back out not for the bull but my Margaret cow tag.  We borrowed parents camper and headed up to see how camping with 1 yr old and 1 week old would go.  got in on cows first night but only got a 15yd quartering toward me with head down shot.  got busted attempting to get better shot window.  Friday morning got busted 200yds from truck and did not see anything rest of morning.  Friday evening went back to same hillside and after still hunting for couple hours heard some noise above me snuck little closer and spotted calf at thirty yards.  nelt down for better shot window and cow finally stepped into view.  shot a little high but got some lung and artery she went about 300yds.  lot of hard hunting for cow, thought Margaret would be slam dunk but elk really hung to thick, steep areas.  Was a great season though.
