Road trip to Saskatchewan
« on: September 11, 2013, 11:51:55 AM »
It's getting hard to concentrate at work now.  We leave for our bird hunt on Sunday.  Doing 3 days of hunts on our own and 3 days with a guide we know up there.  Got a case of 10 gauge shells, a case of 12 gauge shells, (2) 12 gauges, (1) 10 gauge, 2 100 qt coolers, my lab, and 2 buddies to drive up with.

Haven't done this trip in 2 years. I am ready...

Good Luck wish I were going up there this fall to chase those big whitetails around

I road tripped to Manitoba a few times to ice fish walleye - never for been to Canada for hunting, though.  Just might be a little jealous!  Good luck!

We go to Montana and then north.  Closest town we will be near is Outlook.  It is a little south of Saskatoon.

I leave on Monday for Saskatchewan myself. I'm going to the Seahawks game Sunday night :IBCOOL: and then taking off Monday morning. Remember you have a limit of shells you can bring into Canada. Have fun! If you've never been before, It's a waterfowlers dream up there.

Yes I've been before.  I do know about the shell limit.  I've never had them challenge me on shells though.  I'm ready to kick off my bird season!

We get asked how many shells we are bringing in every year. About half the time they ask to see them. I don't know what would happen if they caught you lying to them. Probably just get them taken away. We go through the same crossing in Montana every year. Maybe we should try another one?

Here's a mid week update.  We took 76 geese this morning.  Not a bad day.  I am the scroungy guy standing on the left.

Warren Ireland if you are checking this thread, that is Bella in the picture with our motley crew.  Should make you smile a bit since she is doing well...
