President Bush Issues Executive Order Supporting Hunting and Conservation

On August 16, 2007, President George W. Bush signed an important Executive Order promoting the importance of hunting and wildlife conservation and requiring Federal agencies to expand and enhance "hunting opportunities and the management of game species and their habitat."  The E.O. directs Federal agencies to consider the impact of Federal activities on hunting and to work with State and Tribal governments, and non-governmental organizations, to advance hunting opportunities and game animal conservation.  The E.O. also requires the Federal agencies to "respect private property rights and State management authority over wildlife resources."  The E.O. is available at http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/08/20070817.html .

Very cool, thanks for the link!
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

A little background on why this came about. The Administration had been under a lot of criticism for it's land dumping and raping policies by the NRA, who had recently publicly distanced themselves from Bush. This is meant (I believe) as a way to get back in good graces. Definitely not bad for hunter's, but once again, there's political motivation behind it.....

The moron can't read or spell...... Probably thought it said "hurting". Surprised he hasn't given all the wildlife to the Chinese,
The first bird may get the worm, but it's the second rat that gets the cheese.

I would think that a site sponser would have more class than to attack the President the way he did.  I am sure we would have been better off with John Kerry, who crawled on his belly across the swamps with his trusty shotgun, while hunting deer.

Like it or not, "W" is the worst president ever and people are going to voice their opinion on that! Particularly given someone else is going to have to "try" to clean up the mess he's made.... In fact, Hermit is right, I've actually participated in studies on "W's" environmental/ wildlife policies in the past for some classes and this is absolutely the first time I've ever seen him make an attempt to preserve anything with that regard, if you followed more closely the legislation that has passed over the last few years, you'd realize he's sold hundred's of thousand's of acre's of public hunting lands and cut staff budget's so much that many exising hunting refuge's have been closed, particularly in the Midwest.

As bad as Bush might seem I still think he was way better than the other options.

Please elaborate on how?? With specific regard to wildlife and land's conservation??? We can only speculate on how Kerry would have done, no one knows for sure. Yes Kerry made a bonehead comment, I truly believe, as a distinguished veteran he tripped over his word's. Action's speak louder than word's...

1 Abraham Lincoln            Civil War
2 Thomas Jefferson          Too much to list
3 George Washington        Defeated the English in Revolutionary war
4 Franklin D. Roosevelt      New deal/WWII
5 Theodore Roosevelt        Americas first Conservationist
6 Woodrow Wilson            WW-I
7 Harry S. Truman            Finished WWII and Marshall Plan rebuild Europe
8 John F. Kennedy            Space, Cuban Missile crisis, civil rights.
9 Dwight D. Eisenhower     Started space program commanded Allies in Europe
10 George W. Bush           Democracy to Middle east War on terror

I get a little sick of people saying that GW is the worst president in the history of this country when the facts clearly don't support that.  If you look at the history of the united states the so called abuses to civil liberties that Bush is accused of are trivial compared to some of his predecessors. Lincoln suspend habeas corpus, Roosevelt  en-turned the Japanese and Truman dropped the atomic bomb on the Japan. What has Bush done that is even in the ball park of those three? The people who think that Bush stole the 2000 election will never be satisfied by anything he does and are a vocal portion of society.  Abraham lincoln was routinely compared to an ape and said to be retarded in paper of the period sound familiar?

I personally think our country has way way bigger problems than environmental legislation  like foreign debt, China, Social security, and the entitlement society that exists,  and to say that Bush is Anti environment is just plain false.

So we take the administration's own word they are making "progress"? What would you say if WDFW made the same statement? Your in my ballpark now, I deal with these issues daily.
