« on: September 16, 2013, 01:15:12 PM »
I'm looking forward to buy a Savage 11 XP Hunter in 300 Win Mag for big game hunting. I would like to hear your feedback about that rifle and can I use that rifle for long range hunting(500 yards +)??? Any info would be helpful!!!

Savage tends to be accurate out of the box. The bigger problem is finding a place to practice at that range. Shooting reliably at 500 yards takers a lot of regular practice. If you find a place to practice the long range, please out it up. I would like to practice the art of long range again.

I never go to shooting range ...you can just go to forest where you can hunt and practice at the same place ...but make sure the place is safe for long range shooting

I have a Savage 16/116 in 300 Win Mag. Nice trigger, very accurate to 300 yards, haven't fired any rounds beyond that range.  It has the factory muzzle brake setup which brings recoil down to 30-06 levels.  I like it a lot.

Curious as to why you can't reload in the U.S?

I don't go to shooting, I just go to hunting. I don't shoot a lot....I probably use 2 boxes a year...so there is no benefit to reload ..it will cost more
