You must first be honest with yourself,Until then your just lying to everyone.

I would get a pair of vice grips and put some cushioning material (wooden tongue depressors) on either side of the molar. Get the vice grips tight on the tooth, work it back and forth and up and down. Eventually, it will get looser and looser. Eventually, it'll pop out.

Once you submit the tooth, you should receive a letter back (sometimes months later) from the WDFW telling you the age, conditions, diet, political leanings, forest they grew up in, sexual orientation, favorite color, etc... of the bear.

On smaller bear that might work alright.  On bigger bears your likely to break the tooth off before getting the root out.

i'm curious about this as well...haven't done this yet.  ;)  Is there a better way...or additional steps that help loosen the tooth? :dunno:

I usually take care of pulling the tooth and sending it in when a customer brings me a bear.  Its easier that way.  I've seen to many bear skulls that people break the teeth off or dig the tooth out causing damage to the skull.

I just have them fill out the Bear Tooth Envelope and put it with there paperwork.

If I havr to oull the tooth out of a raw skull I use a scalpel blade and a very small flat screw driver.

If you take a rzer blade and/or a tiny common screw driver and lay it up flat against the tooth and cut/seperate the root from the tooth as far down as you can it will just pop out... small screw driver works best for me... and not waiting till the day after... if you do it on the hill right after you gut it it will help (mostly because the jaw will still open)
