Geese are over-populated. They cause issues on golf courses, in parks, airports, lakes, etc. They're like flying rats.I agree people shouldn't dump carcasses where the general public is going to see them. However I can't blame someone for not putting them in their garbage can, just to be hauled off to the nearest landfill. In a weekend of goose hunting you could easily have enough goose carcasses to fill up your entire garbage can.And as for the meat on the legs, in my opinion that's up to each individual hunter if they want to go to all the work of getting a few ounces of extra meat off each carcass. I don't care if they do or not.As I said, there are too many geese as it is, people should be grateful there are hunters willing and able to help keep the numbers in check.

We have to police our own ranks if we want to keep our hunting privileges.

The greenies have nothing to lose no matter what they do. We have everything to lose. Why is it so hard for you to grasp that our hunting privileges only last as long as the public at large sees it as a benefit to wildlife and conservation? If the greenies are perceived as unethical and thoughtless, all they lose is their credibility. If we're viewed that way, we can lose our hunting privileges and give the greenies back their credibility at the same time. This is not rocket science. Being obstinate for the sake of being obstinate is really dumb in our position.
I don't know why you guys are picking on me. We will always be able to hunt, period. I personally could careless about greenies. I don't put up with their B.S. All they are is a bunch of terrorists. A little side tracking here. I worked on a complete green/eco friendly housing development near Monroe a few years ago hauling dirt for the contractor. Later that night. E.L.F. went in and burned some of the houses down because they THOUGHT it wasn't green/eco enough.
Just wait for rifle season for deer and elk, then check out how many deer and elk carcasses are left right next to gates and trailheads. I see it (or smell it) just about every year. The worst is when they take the carcasses out there in garbage bags and just throw the whole bag out there with the remains in the bag. Then dogs or coyotes, raven or whatever tear up the bags and scatter plastic and rotting remains all over the roadway. It is pretty gross.

I'm just saying we need to be beyond reproach in our presentation and that way, when the eco-wackos start mouthing off, no one will listen. Not trying to pick on you, just the attitude that we don't need to care what people think.

I sure there is something that can be found on waterfowl legs but still the facts remain breast meat is only called for in most of these recipes. http://www.ducks.org/hunting/recipeshttp://www.deltawaterfowl.org/hunting/recipes.phpThat should answer 3rz question the breast meat is about the only useable meat. Sorry but I look at facts before opinion to do my best to answer questions. If someone wants to make pillows out of the feathers or leg fatty stew thats awesome, but doesn't answer the question. So if an elk recipe calls for the sirloin roast, does that mean it's the only useable portion of meat on the carcass? Sorry, your logic is a little flawed. It's the equivalent of tossing the shanks and shoulders on a big game animal. No, they aren't prime cuts and may or may not be enough to get you cited for wastage. It is, however, poor form when viewed by the eye of the non-hunting public, and is also a waste of useable and edible meat.
