H.R. 1526, the Restoring Healthy Forests for Healthy Communities Act needs your support to ensure its passage. This week the U.S. House of Representatives is voting on final passage of this bill. Once enacted, this bill will help protect our national forests from the rampant wildfires and insect infestations that have resulted from the lack of forest management. Healthy forests are managed forests and by freeing the Forest Service from the constant threat of lawsuits from radical environmentalists they can better manage millions of acres of federal forests.
 
Additionally, this bill would reduce long-term government debt by replacing direct federal payments to counties with royalties from timber harvest on federal lands. It is vital that sportsmen across the country stand up for our rural heritage and support the Restoring Healthy Forests for Healthy Communities Act. Tell your congressman to vote for passage of H.R. 1526.”

Just wanted to make suggestion to the forum. If you've not signed up for PopVox, I highly recommend an account. You can directly mail our Federal reps our opposition to any anti hunting anti 2A laws. I use it almost daily and even though I'm not going to get anywhere with Susan DelBene (she's a commie) { I know people that worked with her at MSFT}, I still feel like I'm being heard and I'm watching them.

It passed the house Friday, 244-173.  Getting 60 votes in the Senate will be tough.  The white house plans to veto it.

Democrats that take part in this forum should note that ALL Washington State U.S. Congressional Representatives that are Democrats voted NO on this very good bill.  This is a good bill for ALL people.  Do our Democratic representatives NOT want healthy and safe forests?  The state of Washington appears to be politically broken with representation that does not represent the people, but operates only along party lines; this situation is not good for any of us.  No matter what your party may be, please take note of whether or not your representatives represent you.  If not, then please DO NOT VOTE FOR THEM!  VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE!

If any of you have received a response back from your Congressperson that happens to be a Democrat, write them back and ask them to explain how they are representing us when the votes were clearly partisan.  Remember, all Democratic Congresspersons from Washington voted against the bill; all Republicans voted for it.  It appears they are following the commands of the Democratic caucus and NOT representing their constituents.

Why is this necessary?  Did you read the bill?  It looks as though all NFS lands currently designated as commercial forest land, and capable of producing 20 Cu Ft of forest product (wood) per year would be included... that means essentially all of the NFS lands in NE Washington.

Why don't we just support NEWFC or some of the groups that are trying to get the FS to cut more trees???

Is there a downside? What are the concerns/arguments against? Is this giving private timber companies too much control over public lands?

I think the downside is that we are turning a FOREST into a FACTORY...  we can keep the same designation and cut more trees.  Isn't that the point of the bill, to make the FS cut more trees?

IDK what you mean Elkaholic?  Why should we make ALL the FS lands into a tree farm?  How is that good?

I don't know... that's what I'm asking. I would be OK with continued/resumed logging in certain areas, but I certainly don't want to sell a bunch of old growth along our salmon streams to private companies to do with as they please... There's so much damn legalese in these bills it's almost impossible to figure out what they're actually doing by reading them (which I just attempted). It sucks that we're reduced to relying on different lobbying groups interpretations of all our bills. Can't we pass a bill that makes it obligatory for all congressional laws to be written in language that can be understood? I'm a college graduate for christ sake and it would probably take me the better part of a day to actually understand this damn thing.

Our forests would be far healthier with more logging and provide for healthier game herds, logging has been nearly stopped on national forest land.

I agree with that.  I just don't think this bill is the avenue to that end. 

There are other ways to encourage the FS to do thier job
