On Cruzers buck it looks like his right side G1 is the longer of the two to me, if one of them is going to be an inch it will be that one. Large nutts to take that shot for sure, but looks like he just barely made it.

This is the type of buck I have been talking about. There are even bigger versions walking around that dont have any G1's and will never be harvested, left to spread that inferior gene. They need to come up with a kids hunt to target these genome deficient bucks before it gets too far out of hand. :twocents:

Having a hard time figuring out which comments go with which deer. I would have and did pass on a few like the ones in these pictures this year. The big one is sure NICE! I don't have a problem with him getting killed. He is sure big enough. Like I said in another post, Firefighter4607 and I passed on a 27 or 28'' 2pt with longer eyegaurds than eather of these. You guys are brave for posting these pictures on here, but I sure like to see them. Nice bucks!

Unlike many on here, I ain't gonna second guess you, Cruzer.  Nice deer.  Big forkys are cool.

Two eyeguards present, one of which looks like it's probably twice as long as his finger is wide.  It'll go an inch.

For pete's sake, give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Well I'm not second guessing, as I posted it looks like the right G1 will make it and I'm all for getting those large super forkies out of the gene pool. I couldn't have taken that shot myself is all I was saying, I'm glad he did though.

Exactly why I do not like the 1" rule, no one can measure these things before the shot is taken, I think OR has the rule where if you can hang a ring from a tine its a point.  That is much better way of defining it in my opinion.  Makes it more clear and lessens the chance for some innocent guy to make a mistake.

3 point min........?   :dunno: Nice buck, but I would have struggled pulling the trigger with those small eye guards.  Is one of them at least an inch?
I took a long hard look at him with my powerful Binos and had my doubts about the LEFT side one but knew that that the Right one had to be an inch or more, turns out that the left tine is 1" exactly and the Right one is 1 1/2". Thanks for all the comments on the post.

The one on the right certainly looks 1" from the photos.

Edit: Nice buck by the way.

Nice buck you have more balls than I do. I think that Fish and Feathers should say that it has to have 3 tines and I think they should throw out the eye guard rule. When you go to get the horns measured they dont count the eye guards as points so why should we?

Cruzer,
I would have taken him too, had I seen the eye guards.  He is a great looking Forkie I would be proud to take, and his body is damn big too!

Congratulations on a fine buck!  You are ahead of some of us who are preparing recipes for tag soup.

Thanks so much, One thing I forgot to mention is that I do alot of Carpentry work and I measure all the time, I can tell what a 1" looks loke even from a distance but what really helped me here are the Fine Binoculars that I had that day, it was a clear day and I got a good long look at him before I pulled the trigger, needless to say, thankyou all the Bucky is Legal.

IT can cost you if it isn't legal.  Up to $2500.00 if I recall.  So you better be sure before pulling the trigger.
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

Good work! I give you credit for studying him before the shot.  From your first post you made it sound like you seen his long tines and took the shot. :bdid:  I watched a guy shot a monster two point fifty yards in front of me on a cat road. I passed the guy on the cat road as he was looking at it. NO EYE guards, straight two point, it really pissed me off because he didn't properly identify before shotting.  I have seen my share of large two points and it takes a lot of control to study them first.   Also that's why we have to wear BRIGHT orange, because some hunters may think were a deer.  OK I will get off my soap box. Again well done CRUZER.
Will hunt for food.
