Congrats on your deer it atleast gets you some meat in the freezer.  Just a reminder to people posting that if you post remember it becomes public then.

It's easy to get hot when you see a picture like that and have somebody brag that they called the shot at 150 yrds.  Then later they edit the story to include, "I even had time to get out of the quad".  To each there own when it comes to animals and hunting style. That's not my style and I would have not have shot that buck.  I showed that picture to a couple guys I hunt with and none of them would have pulled the trigger on that buck, Especially with the game warden that patrols that area.

Exactly why I do not like the 1" rule, no one can measure these things before the shot is taken, I think OR has the rule where if you can hang a ring from a tine its a point.  That is much better way of defining it in my opinion.  Makes it more clear and lessens the chance for some innocent guy to make a mistake.

 :yeah:
Nice buck you have more balls than I do. I think that Fish and Feathers should say that it has to have 3 tines and I think they should throw out the eye guard rule. When you go to get the horns measured they dont count the eye guards as points so why should we?

Yes, brow tines are measurable/scorable points if they meet two conditions under B&C and P&Y Measuring Rules:

1. it must be at least 1" long from its tip the center of it's baseline
2. At some location at least one inch down from the point tip, the length of the point (at that location) MUST exceed the width (at that location).

Looking at the second photo on the tailgate, that G1 (brow tine) on the right antler appears to meet the requirement.  Too close for my taste, but if it came into question, that appears to be a point (by WDFW definition).

So I take it you have a problem with both the deer and the fact that he saw it while on the quad?   Now I must ask if it was 3 point above the ears and you happened to see it while driving would you have got out and shot it or just passed it up as not "fair chase"?

I pass up deer at times looking for something bigger but I have filled my deer tag every year for the last 20+ years because I refuse to go go home empty handed, thats what my family eats.  I have killed some nice deer and and some small deer and I am "hunting" as soon as I get in the woods.  I am not going to pass up a deer just because I see it while driving.  And as far as the eyeguard goes the measurement starts as soon as it starts off the mainbeam, from what I can see that could make that a 3" eyeguard even though it doesn't look like it.  I know you can't tell that from distance but thats how it works.

In short,  nice buck.

Usually while Driving, the property you pass is private land so no I would not shoot something while driving to and from a place and because it is not fair chase.  When I am at the location I am hunting I will walk in.

I know, I know.  Just trying to point out the WDFW description for measuring a legal antler point.  This is not a B&C or P&Y buck so using scoring measurements shouldn't even be brought up,  just what makes it a legal 3 point.

First off, congrats on your buck Cruzer dam fine job. some of these guys need to be forgiven for their compleate lack of respect, its a dam shame to not have a male figure in their life to teach them morals, respect for others, respect for self, and in general smack um on the ass when needed. As a result they grow up thinking they have a handle on life and know everything about everything. We can only hope they live long enough to learn the errors of their ways and pray they dont breed before then.

That's a nice deer, congratulations.  Unlike a few other folks, I don't have the power to read your mind while you made that shot... and I trust what you've reported.

By the way, I'm an inexperienced newbie and I'm a little confused.  If I'm not mistaken, I need to make my presence on this site known by posting comments.  I guess I just need to be careful about what I say, so as not to upset those who have been around longer!?  :dunno:

Welcome to the site.  Some of you might be blowing things out a bit here(deadwood).  There are very few negative posts on here.  Only one was really over the top that I know of and in this case might even match your description.  It is ok to question things and or state opinions.  Just because yours is different than theirs, it doesn't mean they are being disrespectful.  Its called a discussion.  For instance, I'll use myself for an example.  I suppose some of you think I might have been negative about what I posted.  Let me just say, as far as I am concerned it is a legal buck.  DAMN close, and its not a call I would have been willing to make.  I was not there and do not think I have the right to think for Cruzer.  It was obtained legally and a nice buck.  I still wouldn't have taken the shot.  Congrats to him.  I honestly think its splitting hairs, and when it comes down to it, its between you and the Warden.  My friend did the same thing, funny thing is, he is a carpenter too.  His experience didn't turn out quite so well.   Jeep, sorry your buck keeps being lost in this mess.  I was actually talking about your buck, as its pert near the same. LOL  I hadn't even seen Cruzers yet as they didn't upload.  Anyway, goodjob to the both of you.  I am glad you kncked these boys out of the gene pool.
