Oh bears are tricky sometimes....
« on: September 22, 2013, 01:53:09 PM »
I start off for an evening hunt the other day...get to a gas line cut I have seen sign in (and bear in previous years)...rise to the top of the hill...bear at under 100 yards working the tree line, surprise surprise. Looks to be a good one...has the "I own the place" swagger. I drop my pack, bust out the camera turn it on and get the scope on him just for a second before he crossed the cut and was blocked by the treeline again....He glanced over at me briefly while walking to woods...so now I am prone and the bear is in the woods. No shot.

I pop the caller in my mouth and let loose...cant tell if he is coming or not...till about 10 min later, I hear a rotted log break slowly under his weight about 35 yards in the woods (like if you stood on the edge of it and busted it in half as it was laying down)...gets close enough I can hear him puff, but he wont poke out.... :dunno: :chuckle:

I hang for about an hour before bailing. Never heard him leave...went back the next day after a rain, large tracks in the sand down the skid road....hes working it, but it if wasnt for me seeing him and seeing the tracks, you wouldnt think he was around.

Keep pluggin away hunters, calling is only going to get better as the season progresses.

Yeah they are tricky...

They play a trick on me all the time. More of a game really, It's called hide and seek. They always hide and I seek them, but I never find them.
