I put them on until the bacon looks done/crisp, and the dove is cooked threw as well. 15-20 min over a low heat on the BBQ. Bacon grease likes to flame up, use caution.  I brought some to work for a snack. My co workers like them too!!
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

I do the same with all game birds. It's really good. If you are having trouble with flair UPS on the grill bank your coals on both sides of the grill and cook meat in in the center. No flare ups and no burnt grease flavor.
I don't know why they call it hamburger helper, does just fine on its own.

Try precooking your bacon in the microwave between paper towels, then wrap the meat.  This will reduce flare-up and allow you to cook the length of time the "meat" needs to cook, not the bacon.

Those look delicious, haven't shot a dove since living in SoCal 20+ years ago.

Not a pretty picture, but after I shot these doves, we smoked 'em up.  Plucking was too easy, and my friends all raved about the taste.

Try putting a thin slice of fresh jalapeno between the bacon and the dove meat.  That is super tasty.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice
