brenda's blacktail doe
« on: September 20, 2013, 05:51:44 PM »
wife finally connected with a deer this past Tuesday....its her 6th archery deer.  she hasn't hunted for the past 5 years because she had an accident where she detached her retina in one of her eyes and didn't feel comfortable hunting.  she's been practicing all summer and really wanted to archery hunt again.  had her on deer since the opener but they were bad angles or had fawns.  she wanted a buck but the only ones we came across were at about 50 yards and she didn't feel comfortable shooting that distance.  she missed a 2x3 last week and really felt bad about it...told her i'd rather a clean miss than a bad shot.  it was pouring rain last Tuesday and the deer were everywhere.... finally came across a lone doe about 6 pm that she wanted to take a shot at....quartered away at 30 yards.  watched her take the shot and the deer didn't react like it was hit even though i saw the arrow make a pass through...the deer took a couple steps after the shot and turned broadside..she asked "what do i do" and i told her to knock another arrow and just wait and be quiet...the deer started walking along for about 20 yards then tried to hop up a little hill when it got jello legs and flopped over backwards....done deal...after the recovery i realized she hit it perfectly...went in on the last rib on the near side and came out just behind the far shoulder...after gutting it out and putting it in the truck saw ticks crawling around on my arm...after a thorough tick check went home skinned it out, cut it in half and stuffed it in the beer fridge in the garage.  will cut it up this weekend...not the buck she wanted but backstraps anyway...not bad for her turning 50 this spring...you can see in the pick she is really pi$$ed off cuz it was pouring out but i had her "pose" with her deer anyway
beer---it's whats for dinner

   Nothing wrong with that!
It is better to be consistently incorrect than inconsistently correct...

My level of sarcasm depends on your level of stupidity...

Sarcasm makes smart people laugh and stupid people mad.
