Any knife collectors/Schrade gurus??
« on: September 23, 2013, 10:29:21 PM »
30 years ago +/- my grandfather bought my father and uncle each a fixed blade Schrade hunting knife for Christmas one year. My grandfather and dad are both deceased now and my aunt and uncle split a while back and I'm not in touch with him anymore. I've looked all over my dads house and my grandfathers for that knife and its nowhere to be found.  I'm trying to figure out what knife it was. It came in a brown box like a gift box. Drop point, bigger than average blade, wood handle, full tang. I've looked all over Google, EBay, etc and am coming up dry. I know it's far fetched. Just wondering if anyone's got any ideas. It's not a Sharpfinger and its not a Golden Spike. That's all I know.

Well, what was it?   I was just going to say, depending on how old it was, it might be a Walden, and one other company, that merged with Shrade in the 40s

This is where I've decided I'm not going to find my dads knife. I wish I could but its not happening. Go buy one just like it or forget about it?

I think it would be neat to have one.  If nothing else, its a great knife, and everytime you see it, it would invoke the memories which are whats important

Old Timers are awesome knives.   I have always liked them.  I cuurently use a Schrade buckknife.  I am not sure if Oldtimer went out of business, or they quit making them, or Imperial Schrade wen tout of business about 10 years ago, after being in the knife business for 100 years.   I'd have to research that.  I still see them in the market, but remember hearing that. :dunno:

The business changed hands sort of, several times.... They completely sold out in 2004. Walden and Ellensville, NY are both a short distance from where I grew up in upstate NY, which adds to the interest on my end. This may turn me into a Schrade collector by the time I'm done. The 150T Sharpfinger was my first knife my dad gave me as a kid. Who knows where that one is either. Sadly I did what lots of kids do with their stuff....lose it.
