Hunting for deer is alright.  The locations of the latest clearcuts changes every season.  You can check the harvest reports and you'll see that the harvest percentage isn't the best (lots of cougars).  Seen all sizes of deer around from the hill tops down to the rivers.  Bring decent raingear if you don't like getting wet.

Night vision binocs and a machete. My buddy used to have a dark grey truck. We called it the sol duc truck. Seen twilight? Enjoy!

Bring a rain coat and be ready to change your area every few years cause the foliage grows like crazy out there.
Take up your bow, a quiver full of arrows, head out to the country and hunt some wild game.  GEN 27:3

Is there a unit in particular you are interested in?  Will you be staying in town or camping out? Lots of small campsites around that can make it easier to get to a spot.

Looking at GMU 607 http://wdfw.wa.gov/webmaps/gohunt/gmu_pdf/GMU_607.pdf

Will be staying in Forks and heading out to the clearcut area's during the day.

Any tips on the area are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Craig

seems that more of the clearcut deer are found in the early part of the season or during bad rain/wind, later in the season seems more deer are found in the forest.  There are parts of sol duc that the ground between the trees is mostly moss so they deer can't hide as well as other places so they move in the ferns/folds to move around the forest.

Was at Forks over the weekend. HEAVY hunting traffic. It is the first time have ever seen so many people trying to hunt out of trucks. Don't think anyone was shooting out of trucks, just scouting. But how do you sneak up on a deer in a truck? Anyhow once the SUV's are driving around all the trails the day is done. Need to be far from a road or day ends at sunlight.

Saw a good deal of Doe and one Buck. No luck.

Craig
