Downtime Sheds
« on: September 26, 2013, 09:49:40 AM »
After the hunting partner killed his bull on the Oregon opener, it got HOT and the elk movement was limited. This gave me the opportunity to do some shedding during the midday. It helped pass the time and found a few including some fresh ( this years drops. I wish i could make it over earlier when they have the best color and before they get picked ) and a nice set off a bull I took pics of in '12.

This was my first REAL eastside shed hunt. And I gotta say..... The eastsiders have it made. I have glassed a few over here, but nothing like over there, much easier to grid a hillside with binos than on foot! :chuckle:

I would have probably bagged the hunt, to pick up all those sheds. Nice finds.

Thanx! The hunting was good, although I didn't get the big one :chuckle: Saw a couple good bulls, but they were running with the batchelor herd that my hunting partner shot his bull out of. He killed a pretty nice 6x6 on the opener. I passed a similar bull the same day, hoping to get on the bigger bulls. But all our activity pushed them out, and they ended up in area we couldnt hunt. Passed a couple bulls on the wetside ( Oregon ) the beginning of the season, and ended up killing a decent rosie over there the last week.

Sounds like a good season, a couple of bulls and a pile of sheds.  It does not get much better than that!
