Bears in the rain?
« on: September 27, 2013, 09:10:21 AM »
Since Bears live in the woods, and it rains in the woods; I assume a guy could successfully hunt bear, in the woods, while it's raining.

Would that be correct?

I plan on calling until I'm blue in the face.

Bears could care less if its raining.  They're hungry.

Blue in the face is all good and well but I'd suggest trying to be in an area where there is fresh bear sign.  Setting up close is your best bet.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Last weekend before we got my cousin's deer we heard a couple bellaring and tearing into stumps, but couldn't get on one; and I didn't have my call with me.  So I'm gonna try that same general area.

I had seen some shows on the Outdoor Channel were they indicated that bear activity drops off when it is raining; however, they didn't explain why.

Not saying they're not out in the rain but I've never had luck in the alpine. Right after a rainstorm is a different story. The bears really seem to have started moving around this week after last weekends snow around me.

Well I was thoroughly unsuccessful for bear over the weekend.  But did have a few groups of Doe come in to investigate the calling.  One brave little girl was so curious that she walked up to 15-20 feet from me.  Totally cool experience.

Should be getting some snow in my area the next few days; hopefully that will get the big Muley's to move down to some more accessable terrain.

Weather is supposed to be improving for this upcoming weekend (10/5/2013 and 10/6/2013).

I was out last weekend and didn't see anything. Weather was crap.

I'll be out there somewhere this weekend...

Good luck to everyone.
