First Archery Blacktail
« on: September 27, 2013, 10:35:22 PM »
Hunted the Washougal unit last Tuesday 9/24 after work and took my first Archery doe. Weather was crappy and ripe for blacktail hunting. Found several doe's and a couple bucks in a clear cut. Stocked a doe and took a 40 yd uphill shot. Clean pass thru on the arrow. Doe ran 30yds and piled up.  It's tough to get within bow range on these blacktails especially after spotting them in a cut. Thanks be to god... Meat in the freezer!!!!!

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.

Here's a pic from the field after we gutted her out.
