Torque screws on scope

Mounting a scope (Vortex) on a Rem 7 MM Mag.

Should I put loctite on the screws? Neve had a problem before on the tasco scope that was on it.   Just wondering...

Do you plan on taking the scope off sometime? I never have, and never had a problem.

I mounted my sons vortex today on his .300wsm and used gun loctite, magnums will vibrate scopes loose.

If they are torqued properly they shouldn't loosen.

I am a firm believer in using quality rings and scope bases. Couple that with the proper torque on your mounting hardware you shouldn't need any lock tite

I had a scope come loose after many years of use on a hunt, now I use Locktite. Fortunately I had the tools to fix it.

Yea, I think I am goin go pick up a inch pound torque driver.

I have never used loctite in any scope mounting hardware and never had anything move or come loose. Just follow manufacturers torque specs and use a quality torque driver and it won't come loose.

Wheeler Engineering makes a good kit for scope mounting.  Also, agreed, no loctite on the scope rings.  Only bases.

I have witnessed 2 guns that rode on quads quite abit where the bases or rings came loose...I use loc tite always...I dont need a failure at the worst expected time

No rifle I own will be strapped to a atv rack or put in those cheesy handlebar gun holders. It will be on my pack or slung on my person. Those atv rifle racks beat the tar out of anything in them they bounce around like crazy.  Scoupe mounting aren't the only thing that could be rattled loose in an atv rack.

I use loctite. The blue stuff.  Everyone is different, you do what makes you comfy.
