elk play
« on: October 28, 2008, 09:48:00 PM »
For the third night in less than a week I watched a few elk in a farmers field.  Last week there were about 20 with at least one BIG bull.  Tonight I watched about 4 with 2 bulls pushing each other around.  I was about 150-200 yards away and could hear the horns smacking each other.  I watched them for about 15 minutes, they ran back and forth through the field jumping the barb wire fence, chasing each other and just screwing around.  Pretty cool.  Too bad I have an archery tag and the unit is not open in late archery.  My wife has a rifle tag but it is not safe to shoot a rifle there.  After reading all of your post on hunting with a slug I decided that probably wasn't safe either.  Maybe next year.

I have been thinking about doing that but they come in the last 10 minutes of light and I am not sure how the video/pics will come out in the low light.  I will give it a try

there's only one way to find out.
:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield
