Well I've always been a Mathews guy but I think I might defect this year.  I've got my eye on the Elite Z28...330fps with an 8" brace height gets me excited.  I'm not going to make my move until I see what Mathews has to offer next week but it will probably be the Elite.

That Z28 is definitely a winner, the wall on that is about as solid as you can get.

I ordered a new custom recurve last winter. I should receive it sometime around January.

still the alphamax for me, i also love the guys that buy based on speed... from my tests with a hooter shooter  fixed blades group best at 260-280fps anything past that and they are not that great...... so 300+ fps to me is worthless

I for one would never turn down the opportunity to shoot a faster bow.  Heck why not shoot a bow that shoots 280fps at 60lbs rather than 70lbs?  I'm sure that elite coon is looking at will do that.  Can't go wrong with an 8" brace height.  Have you shot an elite z28 Paul?  Or do you only test Hoyt bows?  I get more of a kick out of the guys that are so tunnel visioned by the brand that they won't even try another company.  I've got a die hard mathews buddy that drinks the KOOL-AID and won't even test out the other models.  Just assumes that they aren't as good as the mathews bows.

Thank you archery228 and Bullcanyon.. yes I have shot the Elite and any other bow youn can name, remember shooting a bow is one of the things I do for a living.... what do you do? so dont question my taste, I do prefer hoyt but matthews and other companys make a good bow as well, my point was with fixed blades, they dont group well past about 280ft a second, maybe they group good enough for you past that speed but I want 3 in groups at any distance with my broadheads and in ALL the tests I have done with a hootershooter  280 fps was the max they grouped tight enough, also a fast bow like 300-360fps requires a perfect shooter to shoot well, those speeds are so much harder to control and magnify any flaw you have in form etc......... so again..... anything that shoots over 280 really to me is worthless.......... my trykon xl at 60lbs shoots 270fps and my new alphamax will be around 280 at 70lbs.... perfect for broadheads........thats  one other thing I love about hoyt, they have not got into the "speed" market and sacarficed accuracy for speed.. the katera shoots 321 obo...... not super fast these days.......

I run heavy equipment, but that don't mean I don't know my shizznit.  You obviously didn't read my post.  Just bypassed the meat and taters of it.  I'll say it again so you have an opportunity to hopefully catch it this time.  WHY not shoot a bow that will get me the speed I'm looking for at 60lbs rather than 70lbs?  The elite has an 8" brace height and is not a super short ata bow.  The speed I'm after is 280fps ish.  That is why my allegience is turned down.  I don't want a 300fps hunting bow, but I do like a bow that can kick that speed out with out being cranked way up.  I've been in one of those stare downs at full draw for longer than I wanted.  Lower poundage is better in my world.

I think we're after the same result.  If I can't kill a chew can at 60yds every time.  I'm not happy.

I bought a New Bear Element last year, great bow, I love it. Won't be buying another for some time. I used my last bow for 16 years. I can't justify buying a new bow every couple of years esp with how much they go for nowadays.

Hey Hoytstaffshooter did you order the Alphamax 32 or 35?  I'm leaning towards the 32 but need to go shoot both again because I liked them both so much.
