your cams on my property?
« on: October 01, 2013, 09:50:38 AM »
Good morning all.

I just wanted to see if anybody on here put up 2 Primos truth cams up in 117 this weekend?
I was dumping more apples out and somebody put them up on my bait pile.

If it is a member I will let you get them back, if not I'm not sure what the proper thing to do would be.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nice of you to do a shoutout here on Huntwa.  Hopefully its a member that didnt realize he went from public to private land.  If not sounds like you have two new cameras.

If it was your property i would leave them a note at your bait site if they don't contact you i would keep the cameras.

if somebody trespassed and put cameras on my property they would lose them.  everybody is responsible for knowing where they are.

Interesting, if it is your property and clearly marked private, no tresspass etc etc so the peron would know without a doubt they are on private property i would remove said cameras and leave a nice note for them explaining why the cameras are gone, a thanks for the cameras, and your ph# number incase they would like to discuss why they were put up there.
I would also try and put up a cam to capture them coming to the site and possibly there vehicle?

I would leave a note saying they are on private property and their cameras could be retieved at so and so phone number. Then, you will have a chance for them to do the right thing, apologize for being on your property, and get their stuff back after a reminder about knowing where you are allowed.

have any pics of them on their own cams setting them up?  post them up here, maybe somebody knows them.  i always get a couple of myself getting the cams ready.  hell whoever stole my cam earlier this year has about 300 pics of me slapping at mosquitoes.  good for a laugh i guess.

 :yeah:

It would depend on how honest of a mistake this was.   Is the property adjoining public land and not marked?  easy mistake to make...

fenced and posted? that's a bit different

A side note..............who puts cameras on an existing pile of apples? Do you think they just fell from the sky?

If you want to do the person a solid and have a teachable moment, leave them a note.

Don't leave a phone number, unless you are already well-known as the landowner or lessee.  Leave a note with a disposable anonymous email address, telling them to make arrangements to meet you at the local sheriff's office for collection of the cameras.

Then, there is this:

exactly.  they knew they were up to no good.  even if they thought it was public, which isnt an excuse, they still knew they were setting their cams up at somebody elses spot.

Techncally they fell from the tree due to the gravataional pull of the earth onto there mass and then were moved to the current location and deposited in said place most likely falling from the bucket or bag they were transported in.
And to a small gnat or ant it would of seemed they were infact falling from the sky.... :chuckle:
