Just moved to Washington
«

I just moved to Washington from Alaska last week. How is the archery hunting on Lewis and is it worth giving it a go? I also was part of an archery association up there and are there any in the area? (JBLM) Thanks

Lots of elk in the Lewis Unit. But, not open late season.

McChord has an archery club. Yardage range and walk through course. They bug the crap out of you to renew your membership in January and their bails on the walk through course are so tight that I ended up breaking 3 arrows trying to get them out. And that was with an arrow puller. Not a big fan of it, but it is so convenient for me to shoot the yardage range. It's located right behind Burger King.

Thanks for the info. What is the preferred method for hunting blacktails? Stand or spot and stalk? They are a new critter to me and could use all the help I can get.

The perferred method is to head east and hunt Mulies.

I am thinking about checking out GMU 505/503 or 672 this coming week. Can anyone tell me about public access? I checked it out on the GoHunt webpage but local knowledge would be awesome.
How are the garmin/Magellan GPS hunt maps for Washington? I was thinking about picking up a new one with the hunt maps so I can start learning the land.
