Letting the bear go...
« on: October 03, 2013, 05:53:20 AM »
I was out muzzle hunting for deer this past weekend. Standing by a tree checking out a set up for deer. I caught movement out the corner of my eye and a +/- 150 black bear comes in behind me and stands at 32 feet. It did not realize I was there until I pulled back the hammer.
Having shot 3 other bear in the 150 to 200 lb range, I decided I did not need this bear...unless it got attitude.
I would rather wait for a bigger bear or a buck.
It was fun to watch the bear look at me and then away several time until it finally decided the hammer sound was not all that great, and it wandered off.  :)

Did the same thing myself the other day. Sometimes its just as much fun to just watch them...
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Bears are one of the funner animals in the woods to watch. Lots of character
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

That's cool! Last year deer hunting I talked myself out of taking a bear with my second tag. He was about 40 yds or so. I enjoyed the heck out of watching him. They sure are neat animals.
