Duck Blind

I have a buddy at work that is letting me hunt is property, and is letting me set up a blind there for the year. I'd like to make a blind that at the end of the year I can break down and take back home. Any ideas? I also might break it down and hunt else where once in awhile throughout the year. something easy to put up/breakdown, and pack in and out of an area. maybe PVC?

Can you dig a pit blind? They are cheap and awesome to hunt out of in the right situations.

I hadn't thought about that, but he'd probable say no, theres cows and horses in the field that he wouldn't want breaking legs!

Can you use a layout? They're cheap and portable - and last forever.  Also - great concealment.

The one previously mentioned in the classifieds section (aero) would be a good choice. He is selling at a good price. They are actually really nice blinds, and the added benefit of not having to deal with the manufacturer is good too.

Cows will tear it down trying to eat the vegetation and scratching their ass on the blind.  You would need to put an electric wire around the blind hooked up to a battrey with solar panel. 

I would just get a lay down blind at first to see where the best place is to put something up permanent and to see if worth the build.  If hunting by a pond a pit could get filled up with water.

If it is going to be sitting there for 120 days, why not prefab a wood blind (2x4s, osb, tar paper, and deck screws) and break it down at the end of the season.  That's what I would do, but I like cooking breakfast in the blind, doesn't work so well in a layout.

Great hides and you find another place to hunt, you can use it there too. 

As mentioned above, cattle will rub almost anything to the ground if it's left out there.

+1 vote for layout. if its a dry field, layout blind. if its a flooded field, layout boat. you may appreciate having spent the money on a nice portable blind in future seasons when hunting elsewhere.

just dont drop any screws or nails for the animals to lame themselves on.  I hate cows.

You hunting by yourself or with a big party? If i was by myself id go layout. You can set up different everyday depending on the wind and conceling one layout is easy.  A big party (especially with inexperienced partners) you may want a blind. That way you can make sure everyone is conceled and shooting when theyre supposed to.

Get 4 T-posts and some field fence.  Pull natural vegetating from the area and weave it in or use a layout blind.
