High Hunt Buck
« on: October 03, 2013, 04:18:41 PM »
Buddy and I have been looking for a good spot to high hunt and I think we finally found one after a lot of work and dedication. We found this basin and tried different ways to get into it and the only way in was a 10 mile hike in. On our way in we discovered a hidden basin we couldn't see from the other side. We camped there Friday and Saterday doing a little pre scouting  hopeing to spot some good bucks for opening.  After not seeing anything worth shooting or a deer at all we found out why. My buddy was looking threw the spotting scope and seen 2 wolfs. So we packed up camp opening morning  and pack to the spot where we were originally planing on going. It took a few hours to get there but it was worth it. As soon as we crested the top looking into the basin we spotted a nice 4 point buck. We decided we should set up camp first before we went out for the evening hunt. We seen a few deer but nothing worth going after. We went back to camp and the rains stared. It was the most incredible lighting storm I've ever seen and to be in a tent on the mountain was awsome.  When we got up and hiked over to our vantage point it wasn't 20 mins and we spotted him. I was able to close the distance and take him at 200 yards.
