Tried on my waders and I can get them off and on.
« on: October 05, 2013, 01:56:42 PM »
Doesn't look like I have to do anything special for my waders.
Instead of a sack of decoys, I am using one of those whole body bags. I have to practice picking them up.
The hard part will be the shotgun. I am rigging some bungy cords so it will be easier to raise and shoot.
I will be carrying only 9 or 10 decoys due to space limitations. I think I can make it until December where I will have surgery to repair my shoulder. It feels strange not to be able to lift arm.
However, I can bend elbow and I can do some things, but not others.
I am thinking of suspending barrel from tree, so I can swing and shoot.
Oct 12 is coming up fast.

Thanks. I went to doctor today and after the tests, my shoulder feels horrible.
I need to get a good nights sleep. You should see the bags under my eyes.

I think I would hold off on swinging a gun or get a light semi-auto 20 like the SX3 20.  Not worth being out of commission for years to come because you thought you could shoot a duck.   :twocents:  Go get it fixed.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

It is not my shooting shoulder. I just have to have a counter weight to raise the barrel.
My MRI is Thursday. I am pretty sure surgery is in order. I plan to have it over Christmas week.
Luckily for elk, I can use a shooting stick. The 300 rum does kick though.

Shoot a different high power.  Why does one need a 300 rum?  Just asking.  My grandfather killed 37 bulls with a 30-06.  You could try a tall shooting stick for ducks.  Or Velcro the gun down to it and hold the stick at the waist level or at your range of strength.
Cut em!

I feel for ya, 7 years ago I went through a shoulder injury during the season and let me tell ya it almost cost me my life. I was thinking I could launch, run the boat, set decoys & control the dog solo during the week while my partner was slaving away at work, boy was I wrong. All it took was one slip on the slick floor of the boat & I was in trouble, let's just say that I may have lost a few years on the end of my lease on earth. Was it worth it? Hell no because I really messed it up worse than it was.
It's your call but I wished someone would have told me not to be a dumb azz...
If I killed every thing I shot at, I'd be Phat!!!

Well, I decided not to go to Eastern WA to hunt this weekend. I found a couple of areas on the salt.
I bought one of those sea duck permits just in case I miss identify a mallard.
I plan to scout tomorrow and GPS possible spots and routes. It is not one of those areas that you can just go to and hunt.
Lots of pitfalls.
It is one place I can use shooting sticks.
