Republic scouting/camping trip!
« on: August 21, 2007, 01:37:03 PM »
The wife and I are leaving for Republic tomorrow to do some scouting for rifle deer season. We are going to do some hiking south of Sherman pass and in that general area. Not looking for a hot spot, but it has been 10 years since we hunted around Republic, any suggestions? Does anyone have an opinion on whether the 3 pt. minimum has had a positive affect on the muleys in this area? I hope to get some good photos while we are there, and post them later.

See ya at the Hitching Post,

Jason and Paula

I'm jealous, that's been our primary EWa hunting spot for about 20 years, but will be in Montana this season. The Obrien drainage is good if you hike back in there, so is the Mt. Washington area, but down low on Washington you'll find a lot of hunters. Generally, anywhere you get off road over there you'll find some critters, if it hasn't been really dry, which it hasn't. You should see a lot of game.

Good luck, -D

Can you say IDIOT!!!! Yes I am an IDIOT!  :dunno:After being in Republic for 4 day I was messing with my Canon and FORMATED my pics! All 62 pics GONE BYE BYE! I almost cried, but there were people around so I didn't. The pics that really hurt were of a black bear that the wife and I snuck to within 40 yards of and I got about 6 good pics of him eating grass and brush. That was cool. Also had some pics of some nice trout we caught in Curlew lake. I still have memories........just no proof!

really disturbed :'(

Sorry to hear Jason, I've done that before too. I filmed two bull elk fighting at only 50 yards away once, only to erase the tape on the buck I got that year by accident... :bash: :bash:

Ouch!!

Well did you see any deer??  Was it a productive weekend for you guys.  If you caught some trout in Curlew sounds like you had some sort of fun.  Too bad about the pics.  :'(
