Manke Timber Company Land
« on: October 09, 2013, 12:25:05 PM »
Does anyone know if they allow hunting or not on there land ? I have discovered thru the county GIS maps they hold land all over and was wondering if anyone knew if they care if it is hunted or not.

That is a good question, where is their land located? I may be able to get you an answer through my Olympia contacts. Is any of it in the Kitsap/mason/jefferson areas? Let me know.

If it is not posted, they won't do anything about you being on their land.  (In my experience).

The WDFW outlook for the peninsula seemed to indicate Manke lands were open, although possibly limited to walk-in.

I'd suggest looking up their website and giving them a call...

It's hit or miss with them. They open a few but leave a few closed. They're mostly the rust orange gates. I haven't been out and about lately so I'm not sure which ones are open. Good luck!

They do lease some of their small tracts, so you might make sure before you start hunting it. I know a guy who had permission to hunt Manke land the year before last, and he got a call letting him know the particular property was now leased. . . He had to go in and pack out his tree stands and find a new spot.

I would contact them and ask. I know the owners very well and yes some of the land is leased exclusively  :chuckle: Just double check first

Call first.
The previous land manager did some "creative trading"  :o in exchange for a letter granting exclusive hunting privileges. That person is no longer employed by Manke, but the company still honors those letters.

Thanks for all the info guys. Is Manke like Pope Resources or Green Diamond where ya just make sure ya are on Manke land and you are good or do ya need a letter or something ?

The spot i am looking at is in the Belfair area and there is alot of Manke , DNR , State Land , Pope Resources , and Green Diamond all bordering each other in a kind of residential area and i am hoping holds lots of deer and maybe even a bear or two. If anyone thinks they might know where i am talking about and would be willing to share a bit of info about the area feel free to PM me.
