Trophy Ridge React sight
« on: October 10, 2013, 07:03:10 AM »
Anybody had a chance to play with one?  I'm a LONG ways from being able to pick one up (F'n Gov't shutdown  :bash: ) but when I get in position, I'd like to pick one up for my son's bow.  We can only shoot to 30 yards in our yard and he is a growing boy shooting a Diamond Razors Edge which I constantly have to adjust for his increasing draw length and weight so this seems like a great way to get him sighted in with all of his pins without too much work.  He has my old TR basic 5 pin crappy sight right now and only has 2 pins set and the sight will be the next upgrade for his bow.  Any thoughts if the React is a good sight or not?

I have not shot the react but I have recently shot the "Judge" which sets up the same way. It was very easy to set up, adjust and so far has proven to be accurate as advertised. I am considering putting one on the wife's bow but I do not know if it will work as well since her bow is only throwing arrows at 206 FPS. Wife is only pulling 48lbs for now. Maybe when she is in the mid-50s the arrow speed will increase to where this type site will work.  Hope this helps.

You may not be able to use that sight unless the bow is going, I believe, 260fps or faster. If the bow is slower you will bottom out the lower pins and shoot low at all ranges except the top pin. So if he's a youngster that sight may not work correctly. :(

I purchased the React 5 pin a little over a year ago but I just couldn't make it work for me. The problem was that the sight housing is a really big 2.125" inside diameter and a 2.312" outside diameter. I just could not get the housing centered around my peep when at full draw. I had to float the sight around until I felt it was centered with the peep the then I could focus in on the pins.
Note: I do use a 1/4" diameter peep, which is a Specialty Archery verifier.

On Friday, I received via ups, the React One, which has a much smaller housing, which is 1.650" inside diameter and a 1.875" outside diameter. Now I can see the entire housing just at the outer edge of my peep.

But now I have a new problem. When I mount my Tight Spot quiver, it gets in the way of sight adjustment knob. With the React One, you need to have access to the knob to rotate the knob when switching between the 9 different yardage markings. I will have to make a new bracket for the Tight Spot quiver. I'm a master machinist and work in a R&D machine shop, so this will not be too difficult.

Love my React 5, however, I would have bought the React One if it was available at the time.
