Big Bear
« on: October 10, 2013, 09:07:49 PM »
Got my first bear during ML elk season.  Didn't want to shoot him at first for fear of scaring off the nice 5x5 bull that was feeding in the same clear cut that morning.  Decided I couldn't pass up the opportunity and glad I didn't, he will make for a beautiful rug.  I was really surprised how tasty he was! I guess it's a hidden secret among bear hunters.

He's a dandy!  I'd have taken him even if the 5X5 was in the same clearcut at the same time.  Congratulations!
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Great bear! Too bad you didn't get the shot on video, he was close!

I know right! I was ready to video my Dad shooting a bull but I should have handed him the camera so he could have taped me shooting the bear.  I probably would have but it was all happening so quick and the bear was headed right for us.  If I didn't shoot him he probably would have walked right into us.  Oh well, maybe next time.

Great bear.  How were you able to keep holding the camera on him like that?  I would'a been freakin out! :mgun:

You got some great video and a great bear.

Thanks for the meat. I hope it tastes as good as the stuff you cooked in camp. I was really amazed at how good it tasted.  Can't wait to see your rug.

Now I wanna get me a big bear. :chuckle:

Got my bear rug back today from Bulls Eye Taxidermy near Woodland, WA.  I think he did a real good job and couldn't be happier.  The bear measured out just shy of 6' 7".  Now I just need to find a wall big enough to hang him on. The bed is king size by the way.

Very nice bear! Still looking to knock that off my bucket list. Sucks you had to pass up the 5x5 but this is better.

Well 2 years and a home addition later I was finally able to hang this guy on a wall.  About the only wall in the house that would fit him. I'm still amazed by his size.  Great memories and couldn't be happier  :)  I'm 6'2" by the way to give some reference. Sorry for the crappy pic.
