Late bears, who has them figured out?
« on: October 24, 2015, 11:17:50 AM »
Hey all,
Thanks for the awesome site!  I'm new to WA but not new to hunting. Although it has been a long time since I have bear hunted and I have not hunted them in the fall.
What I am looking for is some ideas on where to find bears this time of year. I have all the gear to do a backpack h u nt and prefer to hunt were I can see. Any suggestions on mountains or drainages thanyI could look up on Google earth would be greatly appreciated. Please PM me if you want to share any details you don want public
I live in Olympia.
Thank you for your time and effort!

Look for food.
Where I am at they are getting the last of the Cascara berries, Salal berries and Evergreen Huckleberry.

They go to bed a little later on the west side so you got some time to get after it.

Look up in the tree your standing under.  That's how we found one in Wyoming while elk hunting.

I saw a great bear yesterday sleeping under a tree. Silly me skipped the bear tag this year cause I wasn't able to get out until deer season started. :bash:

Any hope he might still be around the same place on saturday?

Whatcom  county  :chuckle:

He was decent sized with a white patch on his chest. Watched him sleep for 45 minutes and get up and meander around for 15 more before leaving. I think I'll buy a tag and try and get him.

I just seen a toad of a boar about an hour ago.   crab apples are still hanging, service berries and fresh grasses.
