binocular doubler
« on: October 30, 2008, 08:57:52 AM »
I saw Swarovski comes with a 2x doubler for their binoculars. Anyone ever use this type of gadget?  Is it really useful. The thought of handholding a binoculars with 10x2=20x power just scares me.  Maybe I am wrong.

We have evaluated several doublers. The conclusion was it will only degrade the performance of binoculars. You will be better off with a stand alone spotter.

I was thinking about a doubler myself, i haven`t had the opportunity to try one out, but i was wondering if that would happen. Guess now I know.

I have one, don't think that it is worth the money. My biggest complaint is it has such a small field of vue.

I had a Swaro doubler and didn't like it - too small field of view and poor light. I sold mine on ebay.

Thought about getting one for my swaro's, but it's just another piece to pack along and loose in the backcountry....
