Put this young man down as sportsman of the year!! I'd love to help reward such sportsmanship and would be in for a $50 donation to help  if one of the site sponsor guides want to hook this kid up with a hunt!

Thank you again everyone for the support!! Let my son see the posts, he wasn't thrilled I posted the story cause he felt it wasn't a big deal......which again is what makes it such a big deal! We got shut out again today though did see a couple does.... Just not able to get my legs under me after the hike out yesterday.....still had a great time with my boy and there is always next weekend!!

Too bad he didn't get the buck, but he got to see what those other so called hunters look and act like. Hope he scores, good luck to you.

That was a great wake up call for many reading your story.  As an ethical hunter your son is on the top!  He learned more about hunting in one day than most will in a lifetime.  I've seen many unethical things happen in hunting and learned from early experiences not to listen to those hunters.  I have been reaping the benefits for the past 5 years with 4 draws and others with none.  I can only think it is because of God above and ethics.  I'm proud of you also for walking away and giving him his due.  I'd be proud to hunt with the likes of your son!!!!!

WOW! A little late reading this story. But from what little I know of you. It doesnt surprise me that your Son acted the way he did. Hes more of a man than a lot of full grown men! Hell. I'm proud of him. And proud of you for raising him right. Your family is a class act!

That young man is going to do good for himself. And I have no doubt that he will get his share of trophies!

Dont let him get discouraged. Dont let him give up. His times coming!

One thought I have about the little boy that tagged the deer. He probably knew it was wrong. But could you imagine the pressure he was under from the rest of those idiots. Sure hope he is strong enough to grow up and break that mold.

Thank you for sharing this story. Just helps reinforce that this world will be OK with young men like your son coming up to make their mark in it.

Wow, what a great story.  Your son is a true sportsman.  You should be so proud of him.  It also takes a big man to listen to his son when he makes sense.  The kid was right & you weren't too proud to let him have his way.  You give a kid that kind of respect, and you will have a best friend for life.  My congratulation go out to both of you -- to the kid for showing what it is to be a true sportsman, and to you for being an exemplary father and mentor.

Thanks for such an uplifting post!

So sorry your son did not get to put his tag on his deer, some people anymore.....I just don't know what makes them tick. Your son sounds like a man of honor and truth. I hope you guys can get on some deer and have a quality experience that you both deserve. Good luck on your future hunts. Give your son a pat on the back for me. What a heart breaker deal.
