I found his kids shed about a mile from the spot I shot him. So I know that he is still their some where. I was coyote hunting and found the shed and jumped 2 nice 3x3- 3x4 last January so I thought I would start their and it paid off by 7:45am and back home by 1:50pm. So I am relaxing unit Wednesday then I have to go back to work. :'( But I go a lot of stuff done  :chuckle: Hey good Luck and I hope you do well on your hunt. I can't wait to see some more Desert bucks.

Just curious, why were you thinking about shooting the 2 point?

What did you think of this unit as a whole?

I spent a solid week out there 2 years back with 2 tag holders. It is some great land with some big deer.

How many days did you spend scouting before your season?

Congrats on your buck!

How many days did you spend scouting before your season? I didn't have time to scout but I coyote hunted a lot in January and February 2013 seen lots of buck and found a shed that looks like might be one of his off spring 4 pt with eye guard. looks the same just not as thick at the base on up and about the 2pt I am not a antler hunter, Time to hunt and I didn't have time to scout so I didn't know if I would see any more deer because of all the duck hunters shooting ever where. Like I said I was thinks shooting but I passed It was the opener and I had until Wednesday.

Congrats on your buck!
Thanks

Here is the bullet I pulled from his neck bone. I use shockwave 250 gr bullets. My knight bighorm loves them. I have tried bloodlines but they don't group as good so I went back to shockwaves. It mushrooms good at close range but I was pushing to distance with this one. I won't shot any farther than that it is max on energy and bullet performance. I like to keep bullets that I recover to study how good they hold together or crappy ones that fall apart.

Congrats bear hunter on an opening day kill. I also am lucky enough 2 draw a desert tag starting Saturday and have yet 2 see a buck that wide, although a few 20" bucks were seen. Hopefully us rifle hunters can keep up the good luck!

South side of I-90, west of the Pier 4 Resort where the fishing signs are at might be a place to start.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

I have been scouting for my son and have yet to see a monster.  the biggest has been about 25 inches. have spent 15 half days looking.  half days cuz I cant walk all day.  there isn't as many deer in desert as people think.  I don't know if I will apply there next year.  mike w
