WHile I will agree there is always a little luck involved in hunting and success and no doubt more so with the modern firearm seasons in our state I can't put it at 95% or even close to that. I am not referring to the hunter on this post at all cause I don't now him or what he did or didn't do but preperation for a hunt pushes the need for luck way down. That includes being in shape , talking to bios and past tag holders and scouting extensively. YOu still need lady luck on your side and be willing to pass some critters up to get the big one but to think you have to be lucky to succeed I don't buy into that. Weather on the other hand can screw up the best of hunts , I had it happen this year on a Blues muzzie hunt I was helping on, and preperation can't help that. nwhunter

but have been getting screwed up by another hunter who apparently knows nothing about hunting.

Man if I had a dollar for everytime that has happened to me..... ticks me off so much when you work your rear off to find that one bull, you are on him, working him, and another hunter busts him before you get your shot. One year in Nemah, SW Washington early archery I had four different bulls in my sights on opening day and all four were scared away by other hunters. One was huge, 7 on one side and non-typical on the other, barely 100 yards off HWY 101!
