Three pt blacktail good enough 4 him
« on: October 14, 2013, 07:51:48 PM »
Opening day we hiked onto this coastal sandbar hoping to catch a blacktail licking salt off barnacles. We snuck onto a sand dune and spotted this buck feeding on eel grass right below us. The boy decides it's a shooter in his book and takes aim. He has a difficult time finding him in the cross hairs because the sweat running down his face is putting a copious amount of sunblock in his eyes. Wiping his eyes clear he drops the buck in his tracks! Never even twitched. We had a heck of a time keeping the sand off of the meat as we had to bone it out for the 20 yard hike back to the Subaru. You ever tried packing out a deer down hill in sand? Brutal! Another successful opening day on the beach!
