I'll try to get some pic's of the other boys, but I'm really lousy with a camera.  They're a lot easier to shoot with the rifle than the piddly camera I have.  I didn't mean to imply this was a small buck, just not the biggest over there.  Next year, if they keep hanging around, I may really consider taking a youth or a disabled over.  Seem to be a lot of small spikes and two's around this year, so the herd in our area seems to be dong well enough.  Mulies have really taken over, used to be mostly whitetails but haven't seen many of them around the immediate area this year.

We've shot a few behind the house.  My wife's first deer was one.  Her second deer was another, after many days of hunting elsewhere and a second deer/doe with her bow after the buck she got turned out to be injured and sour.  My first one on the island was in the upper yard, a doe during late ML.  I've shot two bucks near the house, though had not seen either before then.  And, the last buck behind the house was one we had been watching for three years and finally decided it was time or he would probably get shot by someone else during the rut.

So, we have shot 8 of 18 (in the last 8 years) in the yard (10 acres).  Of the other five deer that friends have gotten, a doe was shot in the upper yard by a dad after his daughter passed on ten shot opportunities that day.

We enjoy watching the deer but they are, in the end, still just walking meat boxes.   ;)

I find it disturbing how judgemental people can be toward fellow hunters (not just this thread) while LEGALLY hunting.  For those of you saying no, would it be the same answer if this was near a cabin that he had the luxury of going to frequently during the summer, had some trail cams set up and had patterned the, apparently more wild, deer?

Congrats on getting your bro some venison and wish our "little" ones were half that size.   ;)
