Common spices ?
« on: October 16, 2013, 07:46:34 AM »
There are two spices that are commonly used in cooking/smoking that I always omit. Clove & paprika especially clove nasty. What's yours if any.
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

If you want to make God laugh tell him your plans.

Paprika? Really? I LOVE paprika! Especially if it's the Hungarian Smoked kind...  I use that stuff on everything :)
I always omit white pepper if it's in a recipe. I love spice and heat, but that stuff has a pungent taste that I do NOT like.. I'm also not crazy about fennel... blegh

Cloves, cardamom and cinnamon.  Cloves being the primary offender.  Yuk.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

JK  :chuckle: I too omit regular salt, will usually use Mrs. Dash orr Johnny's depending. Sometimes I can't stand cilantro because it tastes like soap, but then sometimes I love it and can't stand the recipe without it  :dunno:

I'm with ya on Johnny's....I guess technically that is seasoning salt.

I like seasoning salt in moderation, well... ONLY Johnny's. I really can't stand plain salt at all, and if it requires salt in the recipe I will always sub for Johnny's lol.
