Holy Moses.
I just spent the last three days in the hills outside of Klickitat I have never been there but after reading this thread I thought I should check it out. It was great we had eight people in our party. One was my 8 year old another was my 90 year old grandma. We all got bucks it was easy.
Lead em if they're running.

No. A lot of us just know when a point has been made and the dog piling can stop. You don't seem to realize that. Let it go. You've made your point. Know when to say when.
Oh yeah. I hunt in the backcountry but I don't consider myself a "different breed" from any of the other guys on here who like to share stories of their success.
If and when I kill a buck this year, I will likely note which gmu I was in. Not going to note what drainage I was standing in and not going to share GPS coords. I don't see an issue with that.
The backcountry huh?
You really shouldn't give away your hunting spots like that, now everyone will go there.

obviously the anti haters on here are nothing more than haters themselves by blowing up someone whos opinion is different from their own. you guys make it sound like we didnt congratulate him on a nice buck and that we dont want him hunting here. not at all the case we are hoping for limitied exposure on an over exposed place as it is. maybe if some of you owned a significant amount of property over here and delt with what we have to deal with you might understand.

It took you 2 negative post before you told the OP congrats. Your first post sounded like he wasn't welcome to post here and that he needed to remove the area he killed his buck in.

Next time you are down town why don't you look at the over head banner. It states Welcome to the Sportsman Paradise, do you know why it says that? That is because our local business owners make a lot of money during this season! By the way I am from G-dale and my family owns a significant amount of land. How much land do you own?

Is there a problem with hunters that don't care or know where property lines are? Yes I agree with you that a lot of people don't do their homework and don't take time to learn the area. That is another subject that has been beat to death. :bash:

Why don't you write letters to the Yakima Herald about overpopulating hunting here in Klickitat County.

Deer might be hard to find in Yakima, Kittitas counties
Posted on October 1, 2013
Rob Phillips
For the Yakima Herald-Republic
Deer hunters reported only about an 8 percent success rate last year in our region, compared to a 28 percent success rate around the rest of the state. For the past several years local game biologists have been telling deer hunters to hunt just about anywhere else because our deer population and hunter success has been so low.

A recent slight uptick in the region’s deer population is nothing to get too excited about, says Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife biologist Jeff Bernatowicz, who predicts District 8 (Yakima and Kittitas Counties) will again offer poor deer hunting.

Hunters hoping to hunt close to home should consider Klickitat County, where hunters have annually been tagging upwards of 1,000 legal bucks. Just as in District 8, Klickitat game management units fall under the “3-point or better” regulations, so bucks taken there are normally at least 2 1/2-year-olds, with many older males sporting larger antlers.

Thanks for the support firefighter4607. Just to let every local know, I don't trespass and have spent countless hours logging in the boundries, and longitude and lattitude coordinates of legal land on my GPS. Good luck to everybody this year!

Most all of Klickitat county is bench legs. The more east you go there is more muley influence and the more west you go, you get more blacktail.

Nice Buck for this region!

Congrats on the buck! Don't worry about the people that are flaming you for posting the unit.

Klickitat County is a very well known county for deer hunting, it is not a big secret. I have seen it in almost every hunting magazine and in the internet/news.

Congrats again!

:bash: and thats the reason we have so many hunters/road hunters/poachers!!! yep thanks alot  :bash:

Actually the reason for so many road hunters is due to the lock down of thousands of acres of private timberlands, due mainly to the trash dumping, timber theiving, drug using, we have been here forever and can do what the ;&@$/ we want locals.
Thats really the reason, has nothing to do with west siders, its a local issue, always has been.

Welcome to every unit east of the mountains....and it isnt a big deal.  I hunt in unit 101.  Good luck finding out where...If you are local it is not hard based on my avatar picture to get an idea.  But then again I am not worried about locals.  Some how the OP's post is negatively impacting "your" unit.  Totally not logical, IMHO.

Look heres the deal. If you lived here/owned property here and saw how many people come from the west side and do nothing more than drive roads, trespass, and get stupid drunk your opinion may be different. Yes we have been in magazines and all other means of media and none of us like that either. Also its not like a lot of other units that have tons of feel free to hunt ground, it mostly private. I do own ground over here and when asked if people can hunt almost all of them are from the west side. Notice almost everyone that said it wasn't a big deal wasn't a local. The facts is,  that whoever said the poaching/trespassing issue is a local one is not true at all. Most of the locals have private ground to hunt and know where the state pieces are. Am I saying that there is no local poaching, NO, but most of it is not. I don't think that one picture is going to entice thousands more hunters but its more un-needed attention in an already over hunted area.
