Congrats on the buck! Don't worry about the people that are flaming you for posting the unit.

Klickitat County is a very well known county for deer hunting, it is not a big secret. I have seen it in almost every hunting magazine and in the internet/news.

Congrats again!

:bash: and thats the reason we have so many hunters/road hunters/poachers!!! yep thanks alot  :bash:

And they are all wet siders!

Gee. Wonder why fewer and fewer hunters are willing to post success pictures and stories of their hunts anymore on here.

No. The reason you have all that is because you have lots of deer.

Look heres the deal. If you lived here/owned property here and saw how many people come from the west side and do nothing more than drive roads, trespass, and get stupid drunk your opinion may be different. Yes we have been in magazines and all other means of media and none of us like that either. Also its not like a lot of other units that have tons of feel free to hunt ground, it mostly private. I do own ground over here and when asked if people can hunt almost all of them are from the west side. Notice almost everyone that said it wasn't a big deal wasn't a local. The facts is,  that whoever said the poaching/trespassing issue is a local one is not true at all. Most of the locals have private ground to hunt and know where the state pieces are. Am I saying that there is no local poaching, NO, but most of it is not. I don't think that one picture is going to entice thousands more hunters but its more un-needed attention in an already over hunted area.
Congrats on buck!
My comment on above post is where in Washington state is it not over hunted???? I grew up on the Westside and have owned property outside Spokane for 16 years.

Opening weekend our country road turns into a highway! There is no public property and none of us allow hunting. They still come. Someone in our family had someone dump a buck on his property then they had the nerve to ask if he can hunt it after shooting it. I would have called the game department but they gave them a pass. Guess I'm an a$$hole!  :bdid:
On the Peninsula, same deal, opening elk and deer fills with outsiders. We had fun with those! We sent them to the Makah Reservation roads. If they were dumb enough not to no better, to bad!
Anyway, my point is there is no secret spot in this state unless you have private ground. Even with that, you have to police it for the guys who just don't care. What happen to the days of guys putting in some time months before season asking for permission, offering to help a farmer and etc?? Everyone just thinks they are entitled.
We can also thank all the hunting magazines that place maps and etc. when a few guys get a nice one.
My two cents. :bash:

Hey--I recognize that tree in the background. You were in the Washougal unit, weren't you?  :chuckle:

Nice buck.

Klickitat county is 1,904 sq miles of area if you can find out where this buck was killed kudos to you. This rant is ridiculous hate to be the one to say Klickitat is no secret and is a very good deer area but it is not as good as it once was in my opinion. Cut the guy some slack and just say nice deer congrats and move on. This is supposed to  be a site of sharing and helping of hunting stories, and knowledge.  Nice deer

First of all nice buck and welcome to the site. As stated before don't let the negative comments chase you off. If you watch site for any length of time you will see that most of negative or hateful comments come from the same members  :sry: . The rest of us try to give positive and uplifting comments, I for one thing we have enough being thrown at us by the "antis" and "bunny huggers" without warring amung ourselves  :bdid: . We as a group need to stick together. But, hey that's just me, let them hate away if they must. Again welcome and congratulations
Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me

I'd rather be hated for what I am then be loved for what I'm not

Is it me, or are people getting dumber

obviously the anti haters on here are nothing more than haters themselves by blowing up someone whos opinion is different from their own. you guys make it sound like we didnt congratulate him on a nice buck and that we dont want him hunting here. not at all the case we are hoping for limitied exposure on an over exposed place as it is. maybe if some of you owned a significant amount of property over here and delt with what we have to deal with you might understand. asking someone to limit the amount of exposure they give on a unit is not uncalled for. most of the time it happens through pms and is greatly appreciated by both sides. i understand its almost fighting a loosing battle to keep a unit like this on the down low, but if we dont try then im positive it would be even more rediculous. for all of you that say you can even tell a story about a good hunting experience without the haters blowing you up are pathetic if you cant tell a story by leaving out your a location you really should rethink hunting in general because im sure you dont tell eveyone you talk to where you hunt. a good example is look in the backcountry part of this site very rarely does anybody give a location were they shot their animal granted those of us in the backcountry are a different breed.

No. A lot of us just know when a point has been made and the dog piling can stop. You don't seem to realize that. Let it go. You've made your point. Know when to say when.
Oh yeah. I hunt in the backcountry but I don't consider myself a "different breed" from any of the other guys on here who like to share stories of their success.
If and when I kill a buck this year, I will likely note which gmu I was in. Not going to note what drainage I was standing in and not going to share GPS coords. I don't see an issue with that.
