Trapping just outside city limits

I it OK to tap yotes and bobcats just outside city limits on DNR land? I don't see why it wouldn't be.

What do people use for yote and Bobbie trapping? Leg holds? What do guys use for bait besides beaver?

Sounds like there is a qualification test one must take before obtaining a trapping license?

While it may be legal, it is not a good idea to be placing coyote traps where dogs are nearby, as they will get there first, and then the trouble starts. Catching someones dog is not a good thing even though it will in most cases be uninjured there will be a MEDIA CIRCUS over someone trapping close to town and animals and god forbid trapping near children!!!!!!

I am not going to repeat anything the media will say even though it is likely 100% inaccurate.

Leg holds and any and all body gripping traps are not lawful in Washington State with out a damage/nuisance control authorization permit. The permits are fairly easy to obtain in most cases but the fur must be destroyed if caught in a leg hold/body gripping trap.

Two ways to get your trappers license; 1. study the material and challenge the test at a regional office or 2. Attend a trappers education class.

Seems obvious you need a little more information about trapping laws. Check out some of the stickied topics at the top of the page to see about getting a license. Yes, you will need one and when you take the class the answers to your questions should become clearer.

That being said I see no problem setting some traps on DNR land near the xity limits. Mainly because it will be cage traps and if you catch a dog just turn it loose. I do see problems with catching coyotes there or anywhere. Put this out of your mind as it is practically impossible.

To those who will remind me about the permits for padded jaw traps, he is not going to get one for DNR land so end of problem.
